Project to switch php version at Speak To Me Catalog.Com

Hello Seth,

You are receiving this email because we have detected that you are using PHP 5.2 on your account. PHP 5.2 reached it’s end-of-life support from PHP in January 2011 and has not been receiving updates since that time. In order to help ensure a safe hosting environment, as well as to resolve ongoing compatibility concerns with newer software on the servers, we plan to discontinue our offering of PHP 5.2. After August 7th, PHP 5.2 will be removed from all InMotion Hosting Shared servers.

We strongly suggest upgrading before August 7th in order to ensure a smooth transition to PHP 5.5 or PHP 7.0. We have a guide to using the PHP switcher in cPanel to make this an easy transition:

    http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/php/how-to-change-the-php-version-your-account-uses

Many customers will not notice any functionality difference between PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.5; however, some customers may need to work with their developer for a seamless transition. The best way to test your site’s functionality in the new version is to update it before the removal date, so you can revert if needed and work towards resolving any issues. If no action is taken before August 7th, your account will automatically be upgraded to the next available version, PHP 5.3.

We strongly recommend that you choose a PHP version that is still supported upstream:

5.6
7.0
7.1

If you need any assistance with this change, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

not fun, eh?

yeah might be a bit of a project … i allocated about 2 weeks of energy for it.  it is possible that i will be able to go to the version of php which lets me migrate to the google cloud … not sure yet.

i may switch the domain running http://icybermind.net/  for ming characters like hee over to a more recent php edition as part of my testing.

Checkout migration help here

via interesting search for converting from different versions of php

null never did PhP

interesting to note that speaktomecatalog.com is running php version 5.2 (see above) and therefore according to the notice needs to be converted to at least 5.5.

but http://icybermind.net/ under the account “domains” is running 5.5 … therefore no conversion should “currently” be necessary on that domain.

http://icyberspace.net/ does not appear to be in use at the moment except for the lone .jpg to the left.    Consequently i am seriously considering shadowing the web root of speaktomecatalog.com here to test out the php code revisions.

← this passive jpg can remain in place with no interruption in service.

I think I was using it to hold icyberspace.net down

domain expires December 1 of this year.

sufficient for my purposes here.

the web root for my php test site of speaktomecatalog here is accessed via account “domains” and is located relative to that under public_html/icyberspace.net

Is this going anywhere? seems like it is the same everytime it bubbles up in the news?

yes it must be completed.  I bubbled it up in the news when i am forcing my focus on it.

going to 5.6 …
